Williston Fatality Crash Sept. 13

On Sept. 13, at approximately 11:44 a.m. CST a 2001 Yamaha motorcycle driven by William Chamley, Williston, was traveling north on University Avenue in Williston. A 2016 Chevrolet Equinox, driven by Sherry Kinsella, Williston, was traveling west on a private driveway and made a left turn onto University Avenue. While the Chevrolet was turning left, it was struck by the motorcycle on the front driver side quarter panel. Kinsella was transported by ambulance to CHI St. Alexius Health-Williston for minor injuries. Chamley was transported by ambulance to CHI St. Alexius Health-Williston where he was pronounced deceased. Chamley had previously been fleeing a Williston Police Department Officer.

According to the Williston Police Department, the Officer terminated the pursuit approximately one minute prior to the motorcyclist colliding with the Chevrolet.

At the time of the crash the road conditions were good and the weather was cloudy.

The agencies who responded were North Dakota Highway Patrol, Williston Police Department, Williston Fire Department and Williston Ambulance Service.

The crash remains under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
