On March 12, Charles Steed, a 31-year-old male, and Nathaniel Steed, a 19-year-old male both from Colorado City, AZ were traveling in a 2011 GMC Sierra westbound on Hwy 68 near mile marker 2. The GMC left the roadway to the north, overcorrected, crossed both lanes of travel, entered the south ditch, and struck a stop sign. The GMC partially overturned and struck a fence. The GMC came to rest in the south ditch facing north on its wheels. The passenger was ejected. Both occupants were transported to Sidney Health Center.
Charles Steed was seriously injured and Nathaniel Steed had nonlife threatening injuries. Both occupants of the vehicle were not wearing their seatbelts. The agencies that responded were McKenzie County Sheriff’s Office, Richland County Sheriff’s Office, and Richland County Fire and Ambulance.
The crash remains under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
