Commission Accreditation For Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA)

Colonel Brandon Solberg would like to announce a team from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc., (CALEA) will be conducting an assessment of the North Dakota Highway Patrol from Feb. 28-March 2, to examine the department’s policies, procedures, management, operations, and support services. Due to precautions surrounding COVID-19, this site-based assessment will be conducted virtually.

Verification by the assessment team means the North Dakota Highway Patrol meets the CALEA commission’s standards of professionalism. Being accredited is a voluntary process, but it is a valued recognition of the highway patrol’s level of professional excellence.

As part of the site-based assessment, agency employees and members of the public are invited to offer comments during a call-in session on Tuesday, March 1, from 9-11 a.m. by calling 701-805-8059 or 701-805-8157.

The public may also make comments during a public information session that will take place at the Law Enforcement Training Academy, 1320 Schafer St., Bismarck on Tuesday, March 1, at 4:30 p.m.

Persons wishing to offer written comments about the North Dakota Highway Patrol’s ability to meet the standards for accreditation or who want more information pertaining to CALEA are requested to write or email the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement, Inc. (CALEA), 13575 Heathcote Boulevard, STE 320, Gainesville, VA 20155, or visit [email protected].
