75th Annual Old Timers Reunion & Summer Festival July 16-18

The 75th Annual Fairview Old-Timers Reunion and Summer Festival activities are planned to take place July 16-18. The festival will feature the 3-on-3 Hoopfest, Classic Car and Truck Show, Grand Parade, food and craft vendors, live music and much more.

The Hoopfest will be having a 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament for youth and adults to participate in on July 15 and July 16; this two-day event is sponsored and operated by the Fairview Community Foundation. For more information on Hoopfest, call 406-489-0390.

Friday, July 16, starting at 5 p.m. there will be registration for old-timers at the park, and after registration, class reunions will take place. There will be a hamburger meal at 5 p.m. and entertainment provided by “The Relics” will begin at 6 p.m. and a swim party for junior high kids from 8-10 p.m.

Saturday, July 17, registration of Old Timers will start at 9 a.m. Mini golf and a classic car show will be ongoing throughout the day. A kiddie parade will kick off at 11 a.m., followed by a free lunch in the park, with the grand parade starting at 1 p.m.

This year, there will be buttons honoring Alvin Miller. “He has been in the Fairview area his whole life and has been very active in the community. Driving school bus for 50 years and did custom farm-work for many years,” explained Dennis Trudell, Fairview Old-Timers Festival Committee spokesperson. Following the grand parade, there will be an event featuring the history on Alvin Miller and entertainment provided by his family and others.

Immediately after the parade, the American Legion will be performing a flag-raising ceremony, followed by a speech from Fairview Mayor Brian Bieber. Between 3 and 5 p.m. there will be an Ice Cream Social and tours of Fairview High School. At 4 p.m., the Annual Explore America Duck Race fundraiser will start at the canal bridge, located on County Road 134.

Wrapping up the Old-Timers Festival activities, a church service will be held in the park on Sunday, July 18, at 10:30 a.m.

Old Timer buttons can be purchased at these area businesses in Fairview, Neu’s Supervalu, Merchants Bank, Cherry’s, Mon-kota, Inc., Fairview Town Hall, Double Barrel Saloon & Casino, Hotel Albert, Waterhole, Loaf & Jug, Cenex and Powder Keg; in Sidney, Richland Federal Credit Union and Advanced Communications.

They are also available in the park Friday, July 16, 5-7 p.m. and Saturday, July 17, 9 a.m.- noon during the registration by the bleachers. These buttons grant free access to Fort Buford and the Missouri-Yellowstone Interpretive Center. Everyone is encouraged to bring a lawn chair and come out and enjoy all the activities at the Old Timers Reunion and Summer Festival.

Trudell said, “We are excited to be able to have this event for the public and encourage everyone in the surrounding area to attend.”
