Difficult Year For The Beginning Band

This has been a different year for the beginning band but they have done a fantastic job regardless.  Truthfully, 6th grade band members don't know what a "normal" schedule would have looked like.  This year, to be safe, we pulled small groups from study hall rather than have the full band in the room at once.  For half the year, each section came to band once a week so I was able to work with brass, percussion, and woodwinds separately.  Recently we switched to larger groups and brought half the band together every other day.  It was fun for them to finally hear their classmates on other instruments!  I was impressed with the way they came together today with just two full rehearsals.  We are grateful to Kiwanis for allowing us this performance opportunity.  It felt great to share our music with community members again.  With the nice weather, we're hoping to meet as a full band more often, so community members might hear us outside before lunch on the nice days.

The 6th, 7th, and 8th grade band members will be performing for parents during lunch on Monday, May 24, at the middle school gym.
