Dennis Breivik II, from Williston, races the No. "11B" racecar in the IMCA Hobby Stock Classification. He has been racing since 2015. "This year will mark the end of my fifth year of racing," added Breivik.
Breivik explained that racing is one of his favorite hobbies. "We are pretty laid-back racing. I consider it as just something fun to do on the weekends. My dad, me, and my wife are really just out there to have fun and have a good time," stated Breivik.
Breivik's dad, Dennis, encouraged him to get into racing five years ago, and he has been racing ever since. "My dad was the one who got me into racing, he raced a little bit in the '80s," explained Breivik.
When Breivik was asked what he likes best about racing, he stated that he likes the adrenaline and the opportunity to get out and do something on the weekends.
In 2015, Breivik received recognition for being the most improved driver in his class, "The Most Improved Driver in the IMCA Hobby Stock Class of 2015". He added, "it was nice to be recognized."
Breivik has raced on several different tracks around North Dakota, including tracks in Williston, Minot, Dickinson, Underwood, and Bottineau. "I have raced around the area, but I mainly race in Williston at Williston Basin Speedway."
He is looking forward to the last race of the season. "Our season is over after this weekend, so I am getting ready and looking forward to the Fall Round Up."
The Fall Round Up at the Williston Basin Speedway will take place on Saturday, Sept. 19 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 20, at 6 p.m. Drivers must race Saturday in order to draw for Sunday night. Social distancing recommendation will be implemented at the event; contact a Williston Basin Speedway Board member for more information.
