The Richland County 4-H livestock sale will be taking place on Friday, Aug. 7 at 3 p.m. MDT. The auction will be conducted online at http://www.rkauction.com, and there will also be opportunities for buyers to call in and bid over the phone.
"This year, 4-H activities are going to look very different for 4-H members - keeping health and safety in mind. We are very appreciative of the fact that we get to move forward with 4-H projects. These youth have been working hard all year long, so we are happy that members will be able to complete their projects," explained Josie Evenson, Montana State University Richland Co. 4-H and Youth Development Extension Agent.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the 4-H shows will not be open to the public for on-site viewing, and Richland County 4-H members will only be allowed to have two spectators accompanying them at 4-H shows.
On Monday, Aug. 3, Richland County 4-H will be having their 4-H horse show, and on Wednesday, Aug. 5, they will have the lamb, hogs, goat, and alpaca show. On Thursday, Aug. 6, the dairy and beef show will start, and on Friday, Aug. 7, the small animal show, which includes rabbits, poultry, cats, and dogs will be underway. The Richland County Extension staff plans to Facebook live-stream as much of the 4-H shows as possible. The live stream videos will be available on the Richland County 4-H Facebook for the public to watch.
Richland County 4-H is planning on sending out sale catalogs, featuring the 4-H members and their animals for potential buyers to preview. More detail on the upcoming livestock sale can be found on the Richland County Facebook page and their website: http://www.richland.msuextension.org/4h.
