On Thursday, Feb. 13, at 7:45 a.m. on Hwy 2, milepost 9, about 7 miles from Williston there was an angle (T-bone) vehicle crash between a 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe SUV with driver Hallie Finnicum, 24 of Culbertson, MT, and a 2001 Dodge Ram pickup with driver Aaron Tkachyk, 29 of Whitefish, MT. This crash occurred on an asphalt roadway with patches of ice and clear weather conditions.
The Dodge was traveling westbound on Hwy 2. The Hyundai was traveling eastbound on Hwy 2. The Dodge lost control, rotated counter-clockwise and entered the eastbound lane of Hwy 2 in front of the Hyundai. The Hyundai struck the Dodge on passenger side. Finnicum sustained serious injuries and was transported by ambulance to CHI St. Alexius hospital in Williston, then flown by air ambulance to Trinity Hospital in Minot.
Charges are pending for Aaron Tkachyk.
The agencies involved were ND Highway Patrol, Williams County Sheriff’s Office, Williston Fire and Ambulance and Williston Rural Fire.
