For the first time in its history, the Montana Submarine Veterans will hold its biannual meting at the VFW in Sidney October 3-5. Navy veteran Bill Henderson, state commander, expects between 35 and 40 of the 70 vets in the organization to attend.
The group will conduct business and discuss fundraising possibilities. One certain topic of conversation will be the USS Montana, a Virginia class submarine scheduled for completion in 2020. The vessel is only the second commissioned warship bearing the name Montana and honors the 10% of Montana citizens who have served in the Armed Forces.
