FFA Is Active Within Watford City Community

The Watford City FFA chapter has been very involved in our community throughout the many years we have existed and is working to keep that tradition going.

We have had an exciting summer as we got to welcome our new advisor, Miss Gunderson! Several FFA students entered projects into our county fair this summer, many of which went on to Minot to be exhibited at the North Dakota State Fair.

August was a very busy time for us. We also had three students represent us at the land judging contest; Neil Dahl, Shayla Rolla, and Koen Helmuth, who brought home a bronze team award. We had the privilege of helping out at the Kent Pelton Nature Park grand opening. Our chapter has a couple of trees at the park dedicated in memory of two of our members, Ben Johnston and Seth Collinson.

The chapter officers attended a retreat in Medora where they planned out the upcoming year and prepared goals to improve our group as a whole. This year's officers are Kell Helmuth, president; Cassidy Belcourt, vice president; Isabell Boeklman, secretary; Shayla Rolla, treasurer; Laney Hartel, reporter; Connor Cross, sentinel; Jenna Mandler, historian; Izaak Boeklman, parlimentarian; and Kristen Clark, assistant officer.

We had the opportunity to sell concessions at a high school rodeo in September to fundraise for some of our members to go to nationals. We also served at the hospital's annual women's day at the Rough Rider Center. Fruit and steak sales will begin on November 6, this is also a huge fundraiser for us. We are very thankful for all the support that our community gives us and our chapter will continue to give back!
