Thursday’s the day - the kids are going back to school! And Watford City is celebrating with two awesome Back-to-School events.
On Thursday, 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., some of Watford City’s Main Street merchants are celebrating with a Crazy Days/Back to School Block Party! Seven participating businesses: Larsen Service Drug, Meyer’s Department Store, Beaver Creek Creations, Badlands Boutique, Badlands Hardware, and Barrett Pharmacy will be offering up some crazy day deals on the street, and in their stores! And, while supplies last, Door 204 and Meyer’s will even be offering free refreshments and treats! So take their pictures, drop the kids off at school, and head up to Main Street to enjoy the goodies, register for door prizes, snag some bargains, and check out what these merchants have to offer.
Thursday night from 5:30-7:30 p.m., in preparation for Friday’s family movie night, bring your kids and a cardboard box to the Watford City Market, located at the new Kent Pelton Nature Park by the fishing pond. Long X Arts Foundations volunteers will be available to help your kids create their very own “car” which they can sit in and enjoy the outdoor movie, to be shown at Watford’s second back-to-school event, the 2nd annual FREE FAMILY Outdoor Movie Night! This FREE event begins at 7 p.m., Friday night, in the vacant lot between REMAX, and Door 204. Sponsored by the Long X Arts Foundation, the Watford City Chamber of Commerce, and local businesses, families are invited to bring the kids, and enjoy face-painting, games, treats, a dance party, and more, ending in the viewing of this year’s drive-in-movie, “Sing”, to begin at approximately 8:45 p.m. Prizes will be awarded for the best cars, so why not enjoy the last few days of summer being creative with your kiddos and design one of this year’s winners! Then Friday at 7 p.m., grab a blanket, some lawn chairs, and your cardboard “car” and head to Main Street for a free evening of fun. As this is a family event, parents are asked to remain with their children during the whole event.
