With over 40 venders, the first annual "Rock What You Got" Women's Expo in Sidney was "a huge success," commented Larysa Hurst of Meraki Boutique, who sponsored the event. Co-owners Billie Hillesland and Larysa Hurst received vendor request until the event day. "We had very good feedback from our venders and attendees," said Larysa. She and Billie are very excited about next year's event and will be establishing a committee to make the Women's Expo even better with more options, speakers and women entrepreneurs showcasing skills and products.
Moved from Veteran's Park due to unfortunate weather, the event was held at the Sidney Assembly of God facility where venders lined the walls displaying everything from art work, to photography, aromatherapy, beauty, clothing and mental health. "Unfortunately the weather took us from our original location at Veteran's Park. We intend to bring it back there next year as it is a great location," explained Larysa.
Throughout the day, on the stage, were distinctive women speakers, a fashion show and DMJ from Williston; all informing and entertaining the crowd. First speaker Sheridan Cotrell, founder of Big Sky Women, spoke to a crowd about connections. "Connecting with people around you is a person's biggest asset," Sheridan stated. Big Sky Women provides tools and resources for women entrepreneurs through monthly trainings, expert business communications, and knowledge to build a community to promote success.
Sarah Perrault, Jessie McDonald and Kysa Rasmussen from Sunrise Wellness Center, the newest mental health and addiction counseling center in Sidney, displayed a wealth of information at their booth along with a fun plinko game that helped women with grounding strategies for stress reduction.
Larysa is excited for the growth of next year's expo and believes this is a much-needed event for Richland County. If you are interested in more information, contact Larysa Hurst, Meraki Boutique at [email protected].
