Dear Sidney Community,
On behalf of Richland Opportunities, Inc. I would like to personally thank the many people in our community that helped make the 1st Annual ROI Prom a huge success. There were many staff that put in a lot of hours of their own time to help make this night special, but I want to give a big “shout out” to all the community members and businesses that contributed to the ROI Prom 2019 “Summer Nights” on June 22nd in the Sidney High School Gym. Having a Prom for the individuals at ROI has long been a thought, but to actually make it happen took a number of people and groups. Many of the individuals from ROI that attended have never had the opportunity to participate in a Prom previously. They were excited for not just days, but weeks ahead of time. Many of them expressed that this may have been the most memorable night of their life. This list is not inclusive, but from decorating the gym, getting gowns and tuxes for the attendees, setting up dates (prom-posals on Facebook), lining up vehicles, food/beverages for dinners before, the promenade, the grand march, the King/Queen and their court, the dance, the DJ spinning the tunes, and much, much more. A couple ROI staff that have worked at ROI for close to or more than 30 years, remarked that this is the happiest that they have seen some of the “guys”. The comments from friends, family, community members, and particularly parents, were more than positive during and following the event. In closing, I would again like to thank the community members, businesses, families, friends, staff and anyone else that was a part of this year’s ROI Prom for your tremendous generosity. This was not only a fun and memorable event for many of our individuals, but one of the most special nights of their lives!
