After a very successful sidewalk sales event in June, a similar one will take place in Sidney during normal working hours on Wednesday, July 24. “The people I talked to thought it went really well,” Chris Entzel, one of the event’s organizers, said of the sales in June. “I think all the stores are looking forward to this one.” The celebration will feature plenty of sales throughout the downtown area. Richland Aviation is also holding a sidewalk sale featuring local merchandise. The theme for Wednesday, July 24, will be “Christmas in July.” “Businesses can do ‘Christmas in July’ if they want to, or they can whatever else they wish,” Entzel said. The Meadowlark will again be serving brats outside throughout the sidewalk sale. Other businesses are also planning to offer refreshments. In addition, Reynolds Market will hold its annual watermelon eating contest for children that day starting at 1 p.m. Age divisions are 6-8, 9-11, 12-15 and 16 and over. Prizes will be awarded.
