The 2019 4-H Clothing Revue was held on Friday, June 14 at First Lutheran Church in Watford City. This event is designed to develop leadership abilities, build character and assume citizenship responsibilities in youth. Participants will also have the opportunity to grow by experiencing the skills they need to plan, select and create clothing representative of their personality. Young 4-Hers can acquire poise, good posture and grooming habits through this event.
The Sew and Show category is a traditional area of constructed garment entries. Sew and Show preteen Grand Champion was Amelia Wisness of Keene. Amelia created a flowy chevron kimono. Reserve Champion was Gracyn Darrington of Arnegard with a 4th of July outfit. Receiving a participation ribbon in this category was Clara Wisness of Keene with her navy and teal kimono.
Decorate Your Duds category consists of decorated clothing items. Preteen Harlee Jacobson of Watford City received Grand Champion honors in this category. She embellished a t-shirt and shorts with cacti and flowers. Reserve Champion went to Lenora Arnold of Watford City. Lenora embellished a dress, backpack and shoes with a galaxy theme utilizing gems, sharpie markers and more. Gracyn Darrington was awarded a participation ribbon in this category with her 4th of July theme embellished flip flops.
Five cloverbuds (5 to 7 year olds) participated in this year's event. Their entries were as follows:
• KayDee Ceynar of Arnegard with embellished ombre dyed shorts
• Audrey Wolff of Watford City with tie-died shirt and bibs with embellishments
• Bella Wolff of Watford City with tie-died shirt and shorts with embellishments
• Tylee Thorne of Watford City with a lace dress, shoes, necklace and sandals
• Gavyn Darrington with "Girly Flip Flops" and striped sundress
In addition to these girls, Emma and Annabelle Coughlin of Sidney, MT joined the girls. These twin sisters and relatives of the Arnolds modeled purchased outfits.
Lenora, Cracyn, Harlee, Amelia and Clara were invited to advance to the State 4-H Clothing Revue set for July 22 at the North Dakota State Fair in Minot.
Assisting with the 2019 program were: Pati Wolff, Hair Styling; Malinda Reeves, Program Director and Carol Kieson, Judge.
