McKenzie County's 61st annual fair begins Thursday, June 20th with a free beef barbeque following a parade down Main Street beginning at 4 p.m. The Long X Wagon Train will be celebrating 50 years and will end their ride at the parade in downtown Watford City. The public is invited to enjoy a piece of the anniversary cake at the barbeque. The annual Olaf Leiseth Jr. Memorial Draft Horse Competition will take place in the rodeo arena on Thursday evening. For the youngsters there will be Curly's Fun Zone, strolling magicians and comedians Double Vision.
Carnival rides and games provided by North Star Amusements open on Friday, June 21st and continue through Saturday. Friday evening brings the McKenzie County Fair Demolition Derby beginning at 6 p.m., offering both "Chain N' Bang" and midsize vehicle demolition heats. Payouts will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the Chain N' Bang category and first through fourth in the midsize category. For entry information and rules, contact Carolyn Levang at 701-770-6938.
Saturday, June 22nd brings the Lil Buckaroo Rodeo at 2 p.m., Merrill Piepkorn and the Radio Stars playing at 4:30 p.m. and the ever popular North Dakota Rodeo Association annual rodeo at the rodeo arena. Witness bucking broncs, professional barrel racing, bull-riding and many more exciting events beginning at 6 p.m. The night will end with a fireworks display lighting up the sky above the fairgrounds.
Have fun in the west at the 2019 McKenzie County Fair in Watford City June 20th - 23rd. General admission to the fair is free this year. Tickets for the Demolition Derby and the NDRA Rodeo are available at the fair office, and cost $15 for adults and $10 for children ages 6-13 for each event. Children 6 and under are free at each event.
