One Level Home Provides Comfort Now and in the Future

When Lynn and Con Donvan decided they wanted a home all on one level, they searched those available in Sidney, where they knew they wanted to stay. Between the high cost of the houses and the extensive remodeling needed to make it their own, none met their needs. Donvans then researched modular homes and found those to be more expensive than building, so they began to plan their forever home.

Finding the lot in the south west part of town was the biggest challenge since there are few vacant lots in Sidney but general contractor Curtis MacGrady broke ground in May of 2018 and Donvans moved in to their warm and gracious new home just after the fair in August.

The 2600 sq. ft. home, 1000 sq. ft. triple car garage and beautiful covered patio provide plenty of space for comfortable living. A welcoming foyer leads into the open concept living room, dining room and kitchen area, making entertaining a delight. Nine ft. ceilings and 4ft. hallways add to the spaciousness.

Lynn's favorite part of the house is the kitchen, which was developed with a great deal of thought and expert assistance from Brenda Larson of Creative Solutions.

A custom island was designed at a special angle to provide lots of storage, counter space and seating plus plenty of room to walk around. Dura Supreme hickory cabinets stained in the new toast color, with doors in the new Hudson style featuring the bevel panel for easier cleaning, provide beautiful and functional storage space. The same cabinetry is also featured in the three bathrooms and the laundry room.

Many Rev-a-Shelf pullouts, roll-outs, a recycle center, giant super susan, corner pantry, built-in double ovens and gas cook top, pull-out spice rack, appliance garage, and microwave cabinet all create an organized, efficient space to create meals for two, or a crowd. Viola laminate countertops feature the hi-low pattern for extra durability and beauty. Black stainless steel appliances complete the look.

The gorgeous master bath features a full tub plus a no-lip walk in shower, beautifully tiled by MacGrady. The three roomy, tastefully decorated bedrooms provide comfort for Donvans and their guests.

Con's favorite area is the living room where he can relax in his recliner and keep his feet toasty at the fireplace. The unique mantle is crafted from a Montana mine timber. A floor plug-in is convenient for lamps. Con also appreciates the roomy garage with its ample shelving.

Blinds in the living room and throughout the home can be sheer during the day and black at night, allowing natural light and privacy. DuraMax flooring in the kitchen and dining room combine beauty with easy upkeep while carpet in the living room and bedrooms provide warmth.

French doors lead from the dining room to the sun room, which is the grandkids' favorite play area, and also holds Lynn's office. A door from there leads to the patio with its ceiling fan and lots of room for get togethers.

A great deal of planning went into the entire home. A 50 amp hookup for visitors in RVs, as well as an installed generator in case of power failure are some extras. Lynn's sewing area in the laundry room is another.

While planning for the future, Donvans wanted to create their ideal home while they were young enough to enjoy it. Careful planning, local and family businesses and skillful craftsmen have ensured a space for them to truly appreciate every day.
