Kathy Helmuth was recognized at the annual Montana Public Health Association meeting held last week in Helena. She received a Career Achievement Award to recognize her for her years of service in Public Health. Kathy has been in public health for 27 years and credits Mary Alice Rehbein, a past and influential Richland County Health Department director, for developing her passion for public health. She started her career in Richland County in 1989 but left to explore other areas of health care and returned to manage several programs in Wolf Point in 1990. She became the director of the Roosevelt County Health Department until coming to Richland County in 2003. She is currently the Richland County Health Assurance Nurse Director and manages several programs as well as providing leadership within the department. She is also involved in many aspects of the community and has a knack for weaving public health into everything she does. Kathy has been a strong advocate for public health in eastern Montana and across the state and has been a resource for many by sharing her wealth of knowledge in public health nursing. She has committed her life and career to improving the health of your county, region and state.
