Washington Student Thanks Eastern Montana for Help with Project

In January of this year, The Roundup printed a request from Josiah, a fifth grade student from Payallup, Washington, tasked with collecting information about Montana for a school project. The Roundup readers were more than generous in helping Josiah, leading to him earning an A+ on his project.

Josiah was assigned Montana for Cascade Christian Elementary School's state project, which included collecting information and crafting both a written report and a float display. Josiah contacted The Roundup to help collect the information.

According to his mother, Jana, Josiah received several license plates, Montana magnets, maps, and information on Montana tourism, and lots of postcards. He received information on past sheriff Ted O'Brien, along with a copy of his 1903 ledger and a photo of the famous Fairview bank robbers. "We received information on the sugar factory and we also got grains from a reader, including lentils, yellow peas and spring wheat. I really appreciate all the help Josiah got from the readers in Montana," said Jana. Josiah even received an entire cowboy outfit, including a cowboy shirt, belt and hat. Josiah chose to wear the hat for his presentation.

His favorite gifts were rattlesnake tails, information on the CM Russel Museum, and the cowboy hat. "It was awesome! I am an expert on Montana now," he said, and would like to visit the state someday.

The School held an assembly for the 5th grade students to show off their projects. "The whole 5th grade went into the gym and the rest of the grades came around and looked at the float and asked questions for candy," Josiah explained.

Josiah is thankful for the help he received from The Roundup readers and proud of the outcome of his project.
