County Committee Election Nomination Period Now Open

The nomination period for the 2018 County Committee Election is now underway. Local Administrative Area #1, which encompasses the western third of McKenzie County along the Montana border, will be holding an election this year. Scott Flynn, who has served this area for the past 3 years, will not be running for re-election. We are seeking nominations to fill Scott’s position. Eligible nominees are producers who farm/ranch in LAA#1 and participate or cooperate in FSA programs. This is an excellent opportunity for eligible candidates to run and represent this unique portion of McKenzie County as the link between the agricultural community and the USDA. County Committee members are a critical component of FSA operations.

Committees should be comprised of members who reflect the diversity of producers involved in production agriculture in McKenzie County. Producers representing underserved groups or communities are encouraged to submit nominations. Underserved producers are beginning, women and other minority farmers and ranchers and land owners and/or operators who have limited resources. Other minority groups including Native American and Alaska Natives, persons under the poverty level, and persons that have disabilities are also considered underserved.

August 1, 2018 is the last day to file nomination forms at the local FSA county office. Ballots will be mailed to eligible voters on November 5, 2018.
