Sidney Health Center and the Foundation for Community Care are partnering with the Sidney Area Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture to kick off this year's Sunrise Festival of the Arts on Friday evening with the traditional concert and a tribute to area cancer patients through Light the Park.
The third annual Light the Park event is set to take place Friday, July 13 at Veterans Memorial Park in Sidney. There will be a free concert sponsored in part by XTO Energy starting at 6:00 PM featuring The Sound Exchange, a five member acapella group based in the Twin Cities of Minnesota. The entertaining group is known to bring dazzling harmonies, great stage presence and a wise-cracking audience interaction.
In addition, a VIP tent will be erected near the performance area with beverages and catered appetizers. Admission to the tent is $30, which includes two drink tickets, food, and a lantern to be hung in the park in honor or memory of a loved one affected by cancer. Tickets are currently on sale at the Foundation for Community Care, through the website at http://www.foundationforcommunitycare.org, or at the park the night of the concert.
Light the Park raises money to honor cancer survivors as well as loved ones who have been lost, and helps to ensure the continuance of quality cancer care services in Richland County. Lantern lights will be available in an assortment of tribute colors and strung through the trees at Veterans Park for the evening, illuminating the park with purpose and passion for those affected by cancer. The night will end with a dusk lighting ceremony recognizing the lantern honorees.
All proceeds from this event will benefit Sidney Health Center's Cancer Care through the Foundation for Community Care. Sidney Health Center Cancer Care provides the latest and most up-to-date medical equipment and programs to patients seeking cancer treatment. The services include chemotherapy, IV therapy, medical oncology and radiation oncology with a cancer care team comprised of oncologists, specialists, nurses, pharmacists and therapists who take the time to understand and guide area cancer patients through their care plan.
