Saturday, May 19, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Watford City's Annual Spring Festival will be rolling into town again. It will be held at the Rough Rider Event Center, which is at 2209 Wolves Den Parkway in Watford City, North Dakota. The entry fee will be $5 and includes 10 tickets for the carnival games. Additional tickets are two for $1.
Last year, the Rough Rider Center board members needed to help draw the local community into the center for community events. The local businesses were asked to be involved and the Annual Spring Festival was born. They had 43 vendors and it is estimated that approximately 900 people attended. This year they hope it will be bigger. At the beginning of last week over 20 vendors had already signed up for booths. Many more people are expected to attend than last year. The Spring Festival is always a family-friendly event. There will be carnival games and prizes for the kids as well as a raffle and vendor show, featuring local businesses, for adults. As the years go on more attractions are expected to be added. When I asked Rough Rider Center Business Development Manager Kylee Roff about it she said: "We'd like to make it as big as we can in the coming years."
The Rough Rider Event Center was built in September 2016 as a performance, event and entertainment, and recreation center for the Watford City community. Besides the convention hall, there is an indoor pool, two ice rinks, indoor track, fitness area, rock wall, sports arena and much more. The building is open on the weekdays from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturdays, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sundays 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. Regular events are held throughout the week and more information can be found on their website at http://www.roughridercenter.com.
