NDSU Sets Best of the Best Meetings

Recent issues and research findings that impact soybean and wheat production will be the focus of the meetings.

Five Best of the Best in Wheat and Soybean Research and Marketing meetings have been set for Grand Forks, Moorhead, Minn., Dickinson, Williston and Minot.

The first series of meetings will focus on recent issues that impact wheat and soybean production.

They will be held at the Alerus Center in Grand Forks on Jan. 31 and at the Courtyard by Marriott Hotel in Moorhead on Feb. 1. Both meetings will begin at 8:30 a.m.

Joel Ransom, NDSU Extension agronomist and one of the meeting organizers, emphasized the topics covered by the program are those considered to be most important to farmers for which relevant research findings are available.

The second series of Best of the Best meetings will focus on the latest research impacting wheat production. The meeting date, location and times are:

Feb. 6 – Ramada Grand Dakota Lodge in Dickinson, 8:30 a.m.

Feb. 7 – Grand Williston Hotel in Williston, 9 a.m.

Feb. 8 - Grand Hotel in Minot, 10:30 a.m.

Hands-on demonstrations are planned at all of the locations.

"These hands-on demonstrations have been a signature part of the program for many years," says Hans Kandel, NDSU Extension agronomist. "This section is popular because participants get a chance to interact with live plant material and directly with the presenters."

The meeting in Williston will be part of the National Hard Spring Wheat Show with presentations followed by a social hour sponsored in part by the Williston Economic Development Council.

The meeting in Minot will be part of the North Dakota Crop Improvement and Seed Association's (NDCISA) 66th annual meeting. Registration for the NDCISA meeting begins at 7:15 a.m., with the meeting at 8 a.m.

For more information on the NDCISA annual meeting and to register, contact Toni Muffenbier, NDCISA office manager, at 701-231-8067 or email [email protected].

A noon lunch will be provided at each venue. There is no participation fee but advanced registration is encouraged.
