Ice Cold Laps, Local Brews on Tap, Feb. 10th

The North Dakota Brewers Guild is teaming up with Save the Maah Daah Hey to combine a cool race ending with cold local beers at the Winter Beer Fest.

On Saturday, February 10th, enjoy the snowy "Poco Rio Frio" Badlands race on the historic and serene Maah Daah Hey Trail, Long X Trail, and the Poco Rio Frio, a frozen Badlands creek. The trail will be cleared for snowshoeing, cross country skiing or fat biking with bike tires 3.8 inches or greater. The course begins at the CCC Campground south of Watford City, and has three different loops available. The 2-mile Land Lover's Loop gives just a taste of the Trail. The 4-mile loop, the Poco Rio Frio, follows a frozen creek to connect the Maah Daah Hey Trail to the Long X Trails. The full 11-mile loop, the Poco LOCO Loop, follows the full Maah Daah Hey and Long X Loops. Participants can choose to complete as many loops as they wish during the 10 hour time frame. Children are also encouraged to participate with parental supervision required for children under 13.

The race begins at 8AM CST and ends at 6PM. Pre-registration is required, and closes at 5PM CST on Thursday, February 8th. Racers are eligible to purchase advanced tickets to the Winter Beer Fest at a $15 savings. Visit https://www.bikereg.com/poco-rio-frio to register.

Celebrate racing success and warm up with a cold beer at the Rough Rider Center at the Winter Beer Fest, organized by the North Dakota Brewers Guild. The Brewers Guild is a non-profit group of brewers and partners who are devoted to creating a healthy environment for the growth and quality of the craft beer industry in North Dakota through advocacy and education.

The Beer Fest boasts 11 different brewer booths and 50 different local brews, including the Maah Daah Hey IPA. The MDH IPA, by StoneHome Brewing Company in Watford City, is an aromatic unfiltered IPA with citrus and tropical fruit. The IPA is just one of many brews available from brewers from Watford City to Fargo.

Food at the event is furnished by the North Dakota Brewer's Guild. Entertainment is provided by Mighty Big Jim and the Tall Boys, a roots rock and roll band from Wibaux, boasting both covers and original songs.
