On October 31, 2017 at approximately 6:07 P.M. Watford City Police Department Officers responded to a 911 call of a child versus pickup truck crash in the 200 block of 6th Ave NE, and that the driver of the vehicle had fled from the scene. Upon arrival, officers were able to make contact with a 13 year old male, who was transported to the McKenzie County Hospital with minor injuries. The investigation determined that the child was on the roadway with other children participating in Trick or Treating activities and was struck by the passenger side mirror of a pickup truck that fled from the scene.
The suspect vehicle is described as an early 2000 model Chevrolet 1500 or 2500 pickup truck, dark green in color with a silver toolbox and tinted windows. The vehicle may have minor damage to the front quarter panel and passenger side mirror. The driver was described as an early 40's to 50 year old white male wearing a baseball cap, and was last seen near the Watford City Intermediate School and 4th Ave NE.
The Watford City Police Department is requesting the assistance from the public as witnesses on scene stated that the vehicle circled the block a numerous times prior to crash.
