Winner's Pub Celebrates 20 Years This Weekend

The Winner's Pub in Sidney has been a destination for sports fans and gamers for 20 years.

Started in 1997 by Arnie and Lola Hansen at 120 South Central, the Pub features gaming machines, big screen TVs and sports memorabilia from the area. It soon became the popular place to go for sports fans wishing to watch the games on TV, or hash out the night's win or loss. The pictures and articles covering the walls and table tops detail the area's sports history from way back, and new ones are added periodically.

In 2005, The Pub moved to its current location at 804 S. Central where the larger space allowed for more big screen TVs, gaming machines, better parking, and more guest space in both the bar and casino.

Now under the management of Hansen's son-in-law Ray Johnson, the Winner's Pub continues to welcome the latest technology to enhance its customer experience. Sounddog speakers on each table let the fans select a game and listen to it individually. The Soundog app may also be downloaded to a mobile device for listening pleasure. With 22 big screen TVs and lots of sports packages including NFL Sunday Ticket, customers are able to watch every football game including the Bobcats, Grizzlies and Bison.

The Pub welcomes coaches and fans with free appetizers after every Sidney Eagle weekend home game and supports local sports activities including contributing to the new scoreboard at Swanson Field.

Winner's Pub also has loyalty program where members can earn points with every purchase as well as receive different promotional offers to keep customers coming back. The Gaming Club rewards players and offers up match plays coupons of $5 and $10 as well as other random prize drawings.

A new menu has just been launched with the most popular items still available and tasty new items added such as signature shredded beef nachos, chicken fried steak sandwich, fried pickles, fried Twinkies and several other new items to choose from. The full menu is available until 2 a.m. and takeout orders are always welcome. You can even have a steak delivered from the South 40 while watching your game.

Johnson appreciates all the employees who make the Winner's Pub a fun place to go. He feels fortunate to have someone as loyal as Kevin Johnson who celebrates 20 years at the Pub this Sunday. Traci Berglund has also been a dedicated employee with 18 years of service and the remainder of their capable employees includes Katie Zadow, Kassie Klein, Jennifer Warner and Chase Hall. "They're all good employees and we encourage everyone to come in and visit with them," Johnson said.
