Bev and Dale Salmen opened Home Comforts at 619 2nd St. W.in Williston in May of 2017 to "help people Love the place they call home." Customers are treated to a charming, relaxing atmosphere as they browse the rooms full of home decorating treasures.
Salmens owned an art gallery in Minnesota before moving to Williston, while a friend had a design shop. Home Comforts is a melding of the two featuring home décor, original art, and a mixture of refurbished, handcrafted and new pieces.
"We love the natural elements, the woods, the metals, the florals and the driftwood. They all have a natural feel. That's our main theme," Bev explained. "We also love the mixture and the feel of being able to repurpose quality, solid wood furniture." Styles range from contemporary to farm house to shabby chic. Artwork by Dale's sister and niece is featured in the shop as well. New items are added daily so be sure to check in often.
Originally from Minnesota, Salmens moved to Williston for an adventure in the oilfield and to be close to their daughter and her family. They enjoy Williston and the area including the outdoor recreation opportunities offered by the lake, the river and hiking spots. "It's a blessing being in Williston," Bev said. "We really enjoy it."
