Parade of Homes Becomes Semi-Annual Event

Brenda Larson, owner of Creative Solutions in Sidney, has made the difficult decision to host the popular Parade of Homes every other year. Although the Parade will not take place this fall, Larson is anxious to do the event next year and already has some great homes lined up. She truly appreciates the co-operation she receives from homeowners who are willing to open their homes to the public for a very worthy cause.

The event has raised over $35,000 for the Boys and Girls Club of Richland County, with a goal of $10,000 each year. Last year, Larson was unable to meet that goal due to declining ticket sales and advertisers in the program book.

Time constraints, lack of homes, and the huge financial obligations required to pull off an event of the magnitude of the Parade of Homes dictated that there would not be an event in 2017. After careful consideration, Larson decided to make the move to a semi-annual event.

“I believe we’ll have a better turnout if we go to every other year,” Larson explained. “Ticket sales were down last year, as well as the number of advertisers in the booklet. Plus, it’s hard to find six homes every year. By going to every other year, the public will be excited about viewing the homes, home owners will have more time to prepare and we’ll be able to continue the financial contributions to the Boys and Girls Club.”
