Cammi Seader, massage therapist and owner of Body Bliss Massage in Fairview recently attended a Rocktape course in Las Vegas. Seader has taken many courses during her 12 years as a massage therapist, always striving to stay abreast of current techniques in order to provide her clients with the best possible experience. Out of all those courses, she rates the Rocktape course in the top three. This type of therapy has been restricted to physical therapists, but is now open to massage therapists, creating a new level of treatment options.
Rocktape is a revolutionary new type of therapeutic kinesiology taping product designed to aid in the treatment and healing of various sports injuries as well as improve physical performance. It is the highest one on the market, with the same elasticity as human skin. Taping is not just for athletes, but helps the healing process for anyone with discomfort or injuries. Rocktape has also created many different taping standards and protocols with the goal of easing pain and stress during pregnancy. It is the official tape of the Olympics, Para-Olympics, Cross Fit and more
During the two day event, Seader learned basic treatments such as taping for injuries and tendonitis, plus performance taping. "Rocktape goes above and beyond any other taping," Seader explained. "It's used to make athletes better and teams faster and more powerful. It brings more oxygen to muscles, providing more endurance. Athletes are more accurate and powerful without fatigue or pain."
Seader has treated over 40 people with Rocktape since she took the class and all have felt better after just 24 hours. The tape extends the therapeutic benefits of massage, or clients can just be taped.
As the only massage therapist in the class full of chiropractors, physical and occupational therapists, Seader was a bit intimidated at first. However, she found that her training gave her specific insights and she was able to raise questions her instructor could not answer but would be taken back to Rocktape for more research. "It really boosted my self-confidence," Seader said. I was proud that my questions would be taken back to the company. I asked questions from a massage therapy standpoint that the instructor had not thought of."
Closer to home, Seader offers any athlete in good standing a free first taping along with a physical assessment to recognize dysfunction.
"I love the taping," Seader stated. "It's quick, 10 minutes, it's easy and time effective and frees up time for people on the table. And it works for the client. The taping lasts for 5 to 7 days through exercise, games and showers. It allows kids to heal and perform better, without thinking about it. The taping makes you better. It can be used on all patients for everything."
