Sidney Health Center Cancer Care and the Foundation for Community Care are coordinating the second annual Light the Park event, set to take place Thursday, August 10 at Veteran's Memorial Park in Sidney. Light the Park raises money to honor cancer survivors as well as loved ones who have been lost, and helps to ensure the continuance of quality cancer care services in Richland County.
Area businesses, organizations and families are invited to participate by forming a team, sponsoring the event or attending the evening of festivities. The evening's festivities begin at 6:00PM. Fundraising teams are encouraged to participate by hosting a booth at the event. Suggested booth options include selling food or other items, raffling items or hosting carnival games with proceeds going to the Foundation's Cancer Care Fund.
In addition, the Foundation for Community Care will sell individual lanterns in memory or honor of loved ones who have battled cancer. These lantern lights will be available in an assortment of tribute colors and strung through the trees at Veteran's Park for the evening, illuminating the park with purpose and passion for those affected by cancer. Teams can also collect donations prior to the event through team sponsorships and fundraising sales, and simply show-up for a relaxing evening of entertainment and good company on the night of the event.
Live entertainment will kick off at 6:00PM with performances by Sidney's own Cutting Edge Dance Studio, followed by the headliner entertainer – Jesse Veeder, a singer/songwriter from Watford City, ND. The night will end with a dusk lighting ceremony recognizing the lantern honorees and a fantastic fireworks display by TNT Fireworks of Williston, ND.
