The 71st Annual Old Timers Reunion and Summer Festival is scheduled for July 12th through the 16th. "A time for class reunions and reminiscing with friends that you haven't seen in years!" said Festival Committee member, Margaret Flynn. During the week of Old Timers Reunion and Summer Festival, there will be a series of events happening in Fairview for everyone to attend.
This year, there will be shirts and buttons honoring Fairview's old water tower that are $10.00 each for shirts and $2.00 each for buttons. The buttons can be found at local businesses. The buttons include free access to Fort Union and Fort Buford and also a free lunch at Sharbono Park on Saturday, July 16th.
On Wednesday, July 12th through Friday, July 16th, there will be the 2017 Sugar Valley Hoopfest Tournament that entails three on three "street ball". Anyone sixth grade and older can participate in the Hoopfest. For more information on the Hoopfest call (406) 747-3539.
On Friday, July 14th from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. there will be three showings of a musical slide show, "Looking Back at Old Timers" at St. Catherine's Catholic Church. The Slide Show features pictures of Old Timer buttons from 1956 to 2016, attendees, parades, and events. There will also be hamburgers in Sharbono Park donated by Mark and Sheila Neu and will be presented by Fairview's Speech and Drama Club from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Also at that time, there will be registration of the Old Timer's at Sharbono Park. After registration, Fairview's Speech and Drama Club will present a performance for the public at the gazebo located in Sharbono Park. There will be a Historical Treasure Hunt, a dunking booth, face painting, mini golf, and a youngster's hoop shot available all day in the park.
On Saturday, July 16th there will be registration from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. There will be a Classic Car Show and vendors in the park from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The Kiddie Parade will start at 11:30 a.m. and the Grand Parade will start at 1:00 p.m. After the Grand Parade there will be a Beef Auction and a program in the park. At 4:00 p.m. the Annual Explore America Duck Race fundraiser will start at the canal bridge, located on County Road 134. For more information about the Duck Races call AnnDee at (406) 480-0927. After the Duck Races, East Fairview's Gym will be open an hour before the High Country Cowboys Concert for people to visit with family and friends. The High Country Cowboys Concert will begin at 7:00 p.m. at East Fairview School's Gym. No admission is required and everyone is welcome to attend the concert. The High Country Cowboys are three brothers from Red Lodge, Montana that perform traditional western harmony and award winning yodeling.
To wrap up the Old Timer activities, there will be a church service on Sunday, July 17th at Sharbono Park starting at 10:30 a.m. Everyone is welcome to come and enjoy all the activities the Old Timers Reunion and Summer Festival has to offer!
