The Sidney Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors Search Committee has named Susan Joy as its new Executive Director. Susan’s first day with the Chamber will be Wednesday, July 5th. As Executive Director, Susan will oversee the Chamber’s operations as well as work with its staff and volunteers to ensure Chamber programs and services run with the high degree of excellence that its membership expects.
“I look forward to working with the board of directors and chamber members on projects and strategies to promote Sidney and the surrounding area as a great place to live, work, and play,” said Joy.
Before joining the Chamber, Susan served as the Executive Director of the Headwaters Science Center in Bemidji, Minnesota. In her role she managed a team of ten employees and was responsible for the development of the annual budget, membership recruitment and retention, fundraising, community partnerships and management of over a dozen different grants.
Susan, her husband Dan, and their children relocated to Sidney when Dan was appointed the Director at the MonDak Heritage Museum.
“It was vitally important to the committee that our new director have a solid background understanding in a membership driven organization. It was equally important to find a real champion for Sidney. We were thrilled to find that mix of experience and enthusiasm in Susan Joy,” said Kelly Reisig, Chamber President.
