A training opportunity for leaders serving on boards, councils and committees is coming to Watford City on Thursday, March 23.
“So much of what makes our community great is because of the work done by boards, councils, and committees,” says Daniel Stenberg of McKenzie County Economic Development. “They are what bring us events, essential services, recreation, learning and networking opportunities, city and county government, and more.”
Stenberg sees a link between effective groups and an enhanced quality of life for our community. “Sometimes folks get thrust into leadership roles without instruction or training. While I do understand and feel that ‘on the job’ training is oftentimes very specific and helpful, some training focused on the bigger picture is in the best interest of the participant and the group that they serve.”
The training covers the components of an effective meeting, parliamentary procedure, how to work with different personality styles and conflict, and more. It runs 9am-4pm and will be at the Rough Rider Center. Registration is due March 16, and costs $65 which includes lunch, breaks, and materials. For more information or to register, contact the McKenzie County Extension Office at 701-444-3451.
