Just when you think its not possible for Regional and Williams County Graduate (WCG) Scholarship recipients to receive anything else, the Williston State College Foundation provides another scholarship to offset the expense of housing.
For the next three years beginning Fall 2017, students attending WSC as part of the Regional or WCG Scholarship can apply for the Regional County Housing Scholarship to receive $1,000 per semester to live in Frontier Hall.
“Having these dollars allocated to help with the offset of education expenses from our donors provides an opportunity to fill Frontier and provide the college experience of living in a dorm at reduced rates,” explained Terry Olson, Executive Director WSC Foundation.
The primary dormitory, Frontier Hall was opened during the Fall of 2011 and provides co-ed dormitory-style housing. Standing three stories high, Frontier Hall can house 170 students in four bedroom suites with double ($2,600/semester) and single room ($3,900/semester) options.
Though both scholarships (Regional and WCG) cover the cost of tuition and fees up to sixteen credits for four consecutive semesters, living in the on-campus dorms has been a cost concern for several students attending WSC with this scholarship.
“We have heard the request and are taking action,” explained Terry Olson, Executive Director WSC Foundation. “We want our regional students to look at WSC to receive a great education for the lowest amount possible while still getting the college experience. If our great dorm is not being utilized as it should, we want to solve the problem.”
To be considered for the Regional County Housing Scholarship, students must submit an Application for Admissions and a Housing Application. The Regional County Housing Scholarship is on a first come first serve basis so early admission is recommended.
To maintain eligibility for the Regional County Housing Scholarship, students must maintain the following minimum requirements that are part of the Williams and Regional County Scholarships: full-time status (twelve to sixteen credits); enrolled for up to four consecutive semesters (excluding summers); a 2.0 term GPA; and enrollment in at least one on-campus course per semester.
These scholarships will continue at WSC as long as funding and donations are available. The WSC Foundation encourages anyone interested in donating to please contact the WSC Foundation at 701-572-9275.
