Starship, Head East and Kat Perkins Perform to Honor Area Veterans Nov. 12

The Watford City American Legion Club is putting on a triple header concert at the new Watford City Rough Rider Event Center in the name of honoring area veterans on Saturday, November 12 at 8 PM.

1980s Billboard chart topping band Starship, known for their two #1 hits, “We Built this City” and “Sara” will be taking the stage along with legendary classic rock band, Head East and North Dakota native and NBC’s “The Voice” semi-finalist Kat Perkins.

All proceeds from this power house concert will go to fund the new Watford City Veteran’s Memorial Park, with the mission to plan, build, equip and maintain a park to honor veterans who have honorably served their country, to promote patriotism and to recognize veterans of all military forces, past, present and future. The main goal is to provide and enhance the current Veterans Park and to provide a quiet place for individuals and families to honor their loved ones who so proudly served.

“We have over 1200 vets from McKenzie County who have served our country,” said Jerry Samuelson, project coordinator and director of McKenzie County Veterans Services, who adds that this park will serve as a beautiful community green space for all to enjoy.

In addition to attending the concert, the public can contribute to the new park by making a donation to the park or by honoring loved ones by purchasing a tree, flag pole, granite park bench or space on the commemorative wall in their honor.
