Sidney will be hosting the Eastern C Divisional Volleyball Tournament Nov. 3, 4, and 5 at the Sidney High School Gymnasium. One unique aspect of this year’s Divisional is that there will be three districts attending, instead of the usual two districts; 1C and 2C will have three teams, and 3C will have two teams attending. The city routinely hosts either Class C Divisional or District Tournaments, which brings in teams, families, and fans from all over Eastern Montana, and provides a great opportunity to showcase the facilities and opportunities in the community.
Circle, who was last year’s State Champion, came out of the tournament hosted here last year.
The Sidney Chamber of Commerce & Agriculture is sponsoring the Hospitality Room, which will be onsite at the high school. The Hospitality Room provides an opportunity for Chamber businesses like the Meadowlark and Pizza House to promote their business.
Volunteers are key in making events like this successful and businesses including Oneok, XTO, and Blue Rock are encouraging volunteerism within their companies for the tournaments.
“We always need volunteers, if not for this event, for ones in the future and anyone interested in volunteering in any capacity should let us know,” commented Fred Lake, who is part of the Sports & Rec committee with the Chamber.
Volunteers are being asked to sell and take tickets in three to four hour blocks during the hours of 8:00am – 6:00pm on Thursday, 9:00am – 6:00pm on Friday, and 9:00am – 4:00pm on Saturday. Anyone interested can contact the Sidney Area Chamber of Commerce at 406-433-1916, or Lake at 406-480-4237. Events like the Eastern C Divisional Volleyball Tournament help to promote and attract more high school sporting events to Sidney.
