Fifth Annual Parade of Homes October 2

Fall is just around the corner and with it, one the area's most popular events, the Parade of Homes, which will take place Sunday, October 2. All proceeds will again benefit the Boys and Girls Club of Richland County with tickets going on sale September 7.

Now in its 5th year, the event gives attendees an opportunity to view everything from remodels to new construction. Homes this year range from a small, single family townhouse to a 2300 sq. ft. home.

Sponsored by Creative Solutions, the Parade of Homes was started as a fundraiser for the Boys and Girls Club and as a way to highlight the local building industry. "It's a way to showcase not only local builders and local businesses that supply actual building materials, but also the sub contractors, financial institutions, furniture and appliance stores and decorating services. This area has a lot of talented people and this venue is meant to showcase as many as possible. It also gives everyone a chance to promote their business in the booklet that is given out to all who attend," stated Brenda Larson, owner of Creative Solutions.

The following Sidney homeowners have graciously agreed to open their homes to the public in order to benefit the Boys and Girls Club.

Brent and Brenda Bowlds, 501 9th St. SE, recently remodeled and added an addition to enlarge their kitchen. This comfortable ranch style home features warm painted walls accented with wonderful chalk painted furniture done by the homeowners.

Ron and Kathy Jensen's home at 201 11th Ave. SW has been featured in other Parades, with previous owners, but viewers will be amazed at how large it now feels as most of the walls have been removed from the upper level, creating an open concept dining, living and kitchen area. The updated kitchen and bath are also special features worth seeing.

For a touch of decorating talent extraordinaire, David and Pat Kwasney's home at 1106 9th Ave. SW, is a must see! This home is a lesson in eclectic decorating where everything tells a story about their lives. Bold colors, especially yellows and reds, and large furniture are featured throughout. The gorgeous garden, which Pat and David both enjoy working in, is something everyone will appreciate.

Scott and Gloria Ramus, 12267 CR 348, remodeled their entire house and added to it. Even the roof line was changed in this extensive, well-done remodel. Viewers are sure to appreciate the gourmet kitchen and luxurious master suite as well as the family room and laundry room.

Wutke Properties, LLC, owned by Dennis and Emma Jane Wutke, is offering one of their townhouses for viewers to enjoy at 813 3rd St. NW. This compact unit features a single car garage, open concept dining, living and kitchen plus three bedrooms, two baths and laundry upstairs. This home will be staged and decorated by Creative Solutions and will feature furniture and accessories from local stores as well as custom chalk painted pieces that Creative Solutions has done.

As an added bonus, Mainstay Suites has graciously offered to let the community view one of their luxurious rooms that include a well-equipped kitchen, flat screen TV, DVD player, etc. ...all the comforts of home while enjoying the perks of hotel living. This is a great opportunity to visit one of the many beautiful new hotels in Sidney.

Tickets go on sale September 7th at Creative Solutions, Johnson Hardware and Furniture, Stockman Bank, The Boys and Girls Club of Richland County and the Sidney Herald. Tickets are only $20 in advance. Tickets will also be available for $25 at Creative Solutions only the day of the show.
