The Prairie Ghost Chapter of the Mule Deer Foundation (MDF) will host its 2nd Annual Banquet and Auction at the Fringe Restaurant (Sidney Country Club) in Sidney, MT Saturday August 27th, 2016.
The Mule Deer Foundation is a nonprofit wildlife habitat conservation organization dedicated to ensuring the future of mule deer and their habitat. With over 40,000 active members and more than 140 chapters nationwide, the MDF has conserved thousands of acres of habitat since its inception in 1988.
Local chapters conduct annual banquets that feature a social hour and dinner followed by a lively benefit auction. The chapters are developed solely by local volunteers in communities who are concerned about the future of mule deer.
The Foundation has funded critical wildlife and habitat conservation projects as well as access for hunters for the last 10 years in Montana. Examples include management-related research, habitat acquisitions, conservation easements, habitat improvement projects and youth education programs (M.U.L.E.Y.) In 2015, MDF chapters in Montana allocated funds to six major habitat projects. Additionally the chapters assisted in funding of three land acquisitions with the USFS and MT FWP. In 2016, the chapters in Montana have allocated funds to seven habitat projects, two studies and two land acquisitions with both agencies. This past summer the Prairie Ghost Chapter has led the fencing project on the CMR with the pulling of over 10 miles of dilapidated fencing and unneeded fences, this volunteer labor has saved the USFWS nearly $50,000 in costs! The Mule Deer Foundation would also like to recognize XTO Energy for granting funds to purchase a wire puller that has made this possible. We are looking forward to doing even more in 2017 and you can help by attending the banquet for some fun and raising funds for mule deer habitat and hunter access.
Chapter Chair, Blaine Rogers, announced that the social hour would begin at 5 pm., where attendees can participate in a silent auction and raffles including our 50 hat raffle for a Kimber rifle in which the winner chooses their caliber! The General Raffle has a minimum of 10 items with values of $100+ and includes guns. Dinner will begin between 6:30-7:00 pm followed by a fundraising auction which will feature an African hunt for four and a signed guitar by Ted Nugent (Mossy Oak pattern!) "Like" the Prairie Ghost Chapter of the Mule Deer Foundation Facebook page as raffle and live auction items will be featured in postings.
