Take a walk in Veteran’s Memorial Park on Thursday, August 11th, for Light the Park, a new and fun way to raise funds for the Cancer Center. The enchanting evening will start at 6:00pm, where community members can show off their ingenuity with team fundraising until 8:30pm. For example, the Foundation for Community Care will be selling memorial lanterns that evening; the names of loved ones can be written on the lanterns and they will then be hung from one of the many lights that will be draped throughout the park.
There will be food vendors and live music performed by Violet Tharp and Vicki Viara. They will entertain from 6:00 – 7:00, and from 7:00 – 8:30 the Meadowlark, featuring Signe Verhasselt and Richard Halvorson, will be performing.
The Lighting Ceremony will take place at 8:30, followed by a fireworks display at 9:00. All proceeds will go to the Cancer Center, at Sidney Health Center; these funds stay in the community to help local residents who are affected by cancer.
The public is invited to show their support by attending the festivities, or by registering as part of a fundraising team. Registration is available at the Cancer Center, 214 14th Ave SW in Sidney, or by visiting http://www.foundationforcommunitycare.org, or visiting the Foundation for Community Care’s Facebook page.
