SAVAGE Inc. raised funds and brought the community together for a good cause by holding a free-will donation picnic on June 23.
Officers for Savage Inc. include Dana Jonsson as president, Holly Salsbury as vice president, Jackie Miller as secretary and Patty Micheletto as treasurer.
The meal included cheeseburgers, hot dogs, chips, beans, salads, cookies, water and watermelon.
Each of the Savage Inc. members donated a portion of the meal. "It was a good fundraiser," Salsbury said.
She explained the group will hold another fundraising picnic sometime during July.
The organization will use the funds to improve Maschera Park. Plans are to make electrical power available at the park and maybe add horseshoe pits.
In addition, the organization provided breakfast for Savage's catfish tournament this summer.
One of the things that Savage Inc. does is provide seasonal flags on the community's streets.
"We help a lot at Savage Sunrise Manor," Salsbury said.
She compares the organization's activities to what civic groups perform in larger communities.
