State championship efforts in the pole vault and a strong overall showing by Michael McGinnis highlighted Sidney's performance at the Class A state track meet.
Sidney's boys placed fourth in the team standings with 36.67 points. Dillon won the state title with 84 points. Sidney's girls took ninth with 29 points. Corvallis earned the girls championship.
Garrison Hughes, a sophomore, took first in the boys pole vault by clearing 15-0.
On the girls' side, Aubrey Kessel earned the pole vault title by clearing 10-6. Harmony Hampton placed second by clearing 10-6 and Myka Steinbeisser took third by clearing 10-0.
McGinnis, a junior, placed second in the 100 (11.32) and third in the triple jump (43-1). McGinnis and Jared Steinbeisser tied for sixth in the high jump by clearing 5-10.
Carter Hughes placed third in the shot put with a mark of 47-0. Brooke Franklin earned second in the triple jump with a best of 34-10.
The boys 400-meter relay team consisting of Quinn McGlothlin, Dawson McGlothlin, Alec Lovegren and McGinnis finished third with a time of 43.87 seconds.
