Health is so much more than the size of your pants or the number on the scale. It goes beyond eating well and exercising regularly.
Optimal health involves a balance in all areas of wellbeing. Perhaps one of the most commonly overlooked components of health is having a healthy mind. Keeping your mind active and constantly challenging your brain in new ways can help keep it healthy.
Reading, learning a new language, playing games, and changing up your routine, are all great ways to exercise your mind and keep it functioning to the best of its ability.
Giving your brain new experiences stimulates connections throughout the brain and contributes to increased mental wellbeing.
Try exercising and challenging yourself in the following ways to achieve a healthier mind:
• Get out of your comfort zone and make a new friend
• Set goals
• Find a mentor
• Pour into someone else and give them what you have learned
• Brush your teeth with your non-dominant hand
• Rearrange your morning routine
• Do puzzles and crosswords
• Read aloud
• Listen to someone else read aloud
• Play board games
• Learn to knit or crochet
