For all intents and purposes, Sidney Gymnastics had the 2015-2016 Montana “debut” of its competition team at the State Gymnastics Championships held in Kalispell, MT on March 19th and 20th. During the general season, SGC competes primarily in North Dakota because the Montana gyms are all far away. But to get their routines in front of the Montana judges before the State Meet, SGC usually competes in Billings and Bozeman. This year, however, Billings did not hold a competition and SGC was only able to get a couple of gymnasts to Bozeman.
So as SGC stepped into the arena at Kalispell, they needed to compete well to impress the Montana judging. Compete well they did indeed, bringing home one championship banner, and boasting 5 event State Champions.
Level 4 Results
Team Competition: At the State Championships, the teams are divided into two divisions for competitions. Teams with less than 10 members compete in the “small gym” division; more than 10 in the “large gym” division. With 5 Level 4 gymnasts, SGC was in the “small gym”group.

Level 3 Results
Team Competition: With 8 athletes competing in the “small gym” division, the SGC Level 3 squad came home with a 3rd place State Championship banner. They held off stiff competition beating 4th place by a mere 0.150 and 5th place by 0.450. They also beat one of the teams in the “large gym” division.
It is also worth noting that SGC had the highest vault team score-28.250-of the thirteen teams at the meet, including all the “large team” squads.
