NRCS Montana Extends Funding Application Deadline for Wetland Easement Program

Bozeman, Mont., Jan. 29, 2016—The USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service in Montana has extended the funding application deadline for the Wetland Reserve Easement component of the Agricultural Conservation Easement Program (ACEP) from Jan. 15, 2016, to March 11, 2016.

Landowners interested in conservation easements to address natural resource concerns can submit applications at any time. Though signup is continuous, funding selections are made at specific times during the fiscal year. To be considered for funding in Fiscal Year 2016, applications for Wetland Reserve Easements need to be submitted by March 11, 2016.

NRCS provides technical and financial assistance directly to private landowners and Indian tribes to restore, protect, and enhance wetlands through the purchase of a wetland reserve easement. For acreage owned by an Indian tribe, there is an additional enrollment option of a 30-year contract.
