Attention Richland County Landowners. Application are being accepting for the Richland County Conservation District Cost Share Program. The program is designed to help landowners implement conservation practices on land in Richland County. Past projects include: Stock water wells, stockwater pipelines, solar pumps for stock water wells, irrigation structures, gated pipe purchases, shelterbelts, reseeding crop fields to grass and cover crops.
Any project that enhances the natural resources in Richland County is eligible. The program is open to Richland County landowners. Funding is provided by the Richland County Commissioners.
In the five years of the programs existence over $750,000 in conservation practices have been implemented in Richland County using $250,000 in cost share dollars. If you have a project that may fit the program, we cost share up to $5000.00 on projects costing $10,000.00 or more. If your project is less than $10,000.00 we cost share 50% of the project. One individual is eligible to receive up to $10,000 in a 5 year period with this program. Participants are encouraged to follow NRCS Specifications to ensure success of the project.
Deadline for application is Feb. 29, 2016 and projects that will be funded will be announced by March 15, 2016. Applicants may be requested to interview with the Conservation District Supervisors as part of the application process. Projects must be completed within the year of funding, or by Dec. 31, 2016. Applications can be picked up at the Conservation District Office at 2745 West Holly ST, Sidney, MT or by contacting Julie Goss at 433-2103 ext 101.
Now is the time to think about your conservation needs for the summer of 2016. If you need a water well or pipeline, shelterbelt or plan to reseed a cropped field to grass or would like to try some cover crops stop by and pick up an application for cost share.
