Governor Steve Bullock issued an executive order declaring a state disaster to exist in Glendive, and authorized the expenditure of funds to assist in the community’s recovery and repairs to public infrastructure.
“A severe storm with damaging winds have significantly harmed the infrastructure of Glendive and caused difficulty for their residents,” Bullock said of the declaration. “In Montana, when a neighbor is struggling we offer a helping hand. I’m pleased that the state is able to provide some much needed assistance to this community.”
The declaration, which came at the request of Glendive city leaders, is in response to a severe storm on July 27th that brought microburst winds estimated to be in excess of 125 mph. The microburst caused damaged public property, including city water mains, and created significant debris from fallen or damaged trees. The City of Glendive committed and exhausted all available resources to reduce hazards and restore services.
