In honor of September being National Sewing Month, the Sidney Chapter of the American Sewing Guild would like to invite the public to their Sip & Sew events on Thursday, September 10th from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm and Saturday, September 12th from 9:00 am until noon at the Eastern Agricultural Research Center, 1501 N Central Ave, Sidney, MT.
The Sip & Sew events are open to anyone regardless of sewing experience and are free of charge. Refreshments will be served and demonstrations such as machine embroidery and serger projects will be presented by Sewing Guild members. Those in attendance will be making small projects to take home with them including a scrap catcher made from recycled jeans, a cosmetic bag, a bowl cover and a draw string bag.
The American Sewing Guild is a national non-profit organization and the Sidney Chapter works on community service projects donating quilts and hats to the Sidney Health Center Oncology Department to be used during treatment and sent home with patients. They have also made pillowcases for the Matthew House and baby blankets for the Sunrise Women's Clinic.
The local Sewing Guild currently meets the first and third Thursdays of each month and they are working to incorporate meeting once a month on a Thursday afternoon. There are 35 members who take turns presenting different sewing projects and techniques and for anyone interested in joining the Guild, the Sip & Sew events are a great opportunity to see what it's all about.
