Many of us have digestive disorders. In fact, about 30 to 40% of adults say they experience frequent indigestion and more than 50 million visits are made every year to health-care facilities for symptoms related to the digestive system. Suffering from heartburn, diarrhea, constipation and excess gas does not have to be the norm; in fact, these are all signs that our digestive system is not functioning properly. By taking care of your digestive system, you can become a “regular” human being.
“Nourish Your Digestive System” will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, July 28 at the Watford City Senior Center. This lesson will help participants learn about their digestive system and ways to improve their digestive health. The roles fiber plays in keeping the digestive system healthy will be explained. The importance of water and staying hydrated will be included as well as “friendly” bacteria – what they are and how probiotics and prebiotics work to keep our bacteria in a healthy balance. The session will conclude with a general overview of healthy digestive tips. Activities and discussions as well as taste testing and recipe distribution will be included.
