The McKenzie County Fair will be “Summer Time Fun for Everyone” Thursday, July 9th through Saturday, July 11th in Watford City, ND. There will be a carnival, Curly’s Funtastic Kid Zone, animal specialties, a strolling magician, the National Wild Turkey Federation Shooting Booth, and spray paint artist Matt Sorenson all three days as well as exhibits and showings.
Thursday at 4:00 pm there will be a Fair Parade on Main Street and a free Beef Barbeque at 5:30 pm at the Multi-Purpose Building. At 7:00 pm the Olaf Leiseth Jr. Memorial Draft Horse Competition will kick off in the Rodeo Arena, with registration beginning at 6:00 pm. Friday there will be a demolition Derby in the Rodeo Arena at 6:00 pm; registration begins at 2:00 pm at the North Entrance and closes at 5:15 pm. The Marshall Catch Band, an indie-rock band from Kalispell, MT, will be playing at 9:00 pm both Friday and Saturday nights. Saturday the Youth Rodeo will be in the Multi-Purpose Building at 9:00 am, there will be a cake social at 2:00 pm, Lil’ Buckaroo Rodeo in the Livestock Show Arena at 3:00 pm, and McKenzie County Caviar will be there at 4:30 pm. The NDRA Rodeo slack will be at 1:00 pm and the NDRA Rodeo at 6:00 pm.
Open Class and 4-H exhibits will close at 9:00 pm Thursday and Friday and 5:00 pm on Saturday; commercial exhibits will close at 9:00 pm on Thursday and Friday and at 7:00 pm on Saturday.
General admission buttons which are good for all three days of the fair are $5.00 and the cost of admission for the Demolition Derby and NDRA Rodeo are $10.00 for adults, $5.00 for ages six to thirteen, and free under six, per event.
