Adult Online Hunter Ed Field Course Scheduled in Miles City

(Miles City) – Adult online Hunter Education students looking to complete their certification should plan to attend a field course scheduled in Miles City on Saturday, July 18th. The course, open to students 18 years and older, will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the FWP Region 7 office, 352 I-94 Business Loop.

This field course is designed for students to demonstrate their proficiency with and ability to safely control a firearm’s muzzle in field situations, safely navigate and cross obstacles in the field, safely store, remove and transport firearms in a vehicle, P.R.O.V.E a firearm, determine shoot and don’t shoot situations, identify and describe safe zones of fire and identify different game species.

Requirements for participation in the field course are that students must have completed the online course, be pre-registered and present a photo ID and their Field Day Qualifier Certificate at check-in, and print the related files from the registration website and bring those with. Students must also know the four rules of firearm safety. Students should bring a lunch and water and be prepared for the weather. Firearms are not permitted on the premises and should not be brought to the course.

This course is limited to the first 50 students. Mandatory registration is open now through July 17th, or until the class is filled, and must be completed online at http://www.register-ed.com/events/view/62503. Late registrations will not be accepted. If unable to register online, students can contact the Region 7 office for assistance at 234-0900.

Effective October 1, 2003, to purchase a Montana hunting license, any person born after January 1, 1985, must show a certificate of completing a hunter education course issued by Montana, any other state or any Canadian province. Online students born after 1/1/1985 are required to also successfully complete a field course in order to finalize their Hunter Ed certification.
